After discovering their mutual love for design, Christina Samatas and Renee DiSanto joined forces and founded Park & Oak, a full-service interior design studio located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Well-known for their unexpected pairing of traditional and modern elements, the design duo has mastered the art of balance, providing a beautiful blend of then and now. We are thrilled to share a few of our favorite projects as we shine our spotlight on Park & Oak!

Cottage Hill

P & O: "This was a new build that was a lot of fun for us. Our clients were moving from the city with an expanding family. They were very open to adding unique details in every room and wanted a fresh take on traditional. The ceilings, millwork, and built-ins give the home so much character so that it does not feel like a brand-new home."

Right: The sleek silhouettes of the Camille Sconces accent the minimalist mirror in this refined powder room.

Left: The Goodman Medium Hanging Light is a simple yet sophisticated element in this inviting breakfast area.
Right: The detailed construction of the soft gray arched built-ins pairs perfectly with the graceful Trillion Large Flush Mount fixed on an exposed oak beam.

Right: The 1920s-inspired Jacqueline Two-Tier Chandelier serves as a striking centerpiece above the dining room table, lending balance to the masculine oak-paneled ceiling . A pair of Kapila Table Lamps in a Polar Blue Crackle finish bring contemporary glamour to the room.

Right: In the master bathroom, the Go Lightly Sconces and Wilton Double Sconce lend a touch of warmth to the cool hue of the custom cabinetry.

Oak the Lake

Christina: "This is my own lake house renovation, so of course decisions are always so much more difficult!  We wanted a quiet retreat with a rustic, cozy feel, and then balanced it with a few modern pieces.  It’s always fun to work on our own projects because we can take more risks, like a green kitchen!"

Left: The Lorford Smoke Bell Lantern in Aged Iron and Mercury Glass mixes color, pattern and texture in this rich lakehouse kitchen.
Right: Layering texture upon texture and color upon color, the Alice Sconce curates a classic yet new look in her kitchen.

Cocktail Room

P & O: "This room was an addition onto our clients’ home. They wanted to add a room for entertaining, so we decided to call it a “cocktail room”. There is an antique mirror bar with a moody color palette, a fireplace, and we used an interesting mix of textures throughout the space.  The four velvet chairs encourage you to sit down and enjoy the environment.  Everyone should have a cocktail room in their home!"

Left: This dramatic cocktail room expands beyond the traditional entertaining space by utilizing a deeper palette to embody luxurious comfort. The Morris Large Lantern hangs above four Turkish blue velvet arm chairs, establishing an intimate place to wind down or begin the evening.
Right: A pair of Hulton Sconces accents the romantic cocktail bar, drawing guests in.
