Founded by Daniel Valencic in 1999, Great Jones Developments is a one-stop design and build firm located in McLean, Virginia. Their philosophy is simple: invest heavily in the design process to produce unique and desirable homes which complement the owner's lifestyle. Our DC Staff had the pleasure of working with the Great Jones team on the lighting scheme for their latest custom home: 1120 Raymond Avenue in McLean, Virginia.

The Great Jones team designed a spacious entrance, creating a lasting first impression for visitors. A pair of Caged Small Lanterns by Eric Cohler in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass illuminate the entrance hall, elevating the ambience of this linear space.

Valencic's design aesthetic is inspired by American architectural heritage. In the dining room, the industrial, metro-inspired Bistro Medium Round Chandelier by Ian K. Fowler lights a traditional mahogany table, producing an ideal balance of timeless and modern design. A pair of Selfoss Sconces by AERIN in a Bronze and Gild finish add a warm glow against the board and batten walls.

In the kitchen, cool gray hues and brass hardware accent the white, custom-built cabinets. A pair of Goodman Large Hanging Lamps by Thomas O'Brien hang over the island.

The Roark 40" Modular Chandelier by Ralph Lauren adds a touch of softness to the breakfast area.

A steel-framed door and stone tile lend a modern edge to the mudroom, creating a clean design for the high-traffic space. The minimal Boston Single Flush Mounts by E.F. Champan complement the architectural features.

The Boston Functional Double Light by E.F. Champan lights the vanity in the powder room, instantly brightening the small space.

The Morris Large Lantern by Suzanne Kasler takes center stage above the stair landing, creating an elegant transitional space.

In the master dressing room, a pair of Vendome Single Sconces by Thomas O'Brien flank the antique floor-length mirror. For a more contemporary look, the team opted to remove the shades.

In the master bathroom, a variety of natural textures were used to achieve a clean design. The Bistro Double Wall Sconces by Ian K. Fowler were installed above reclaimed oak washstands on each side of the space.

The timeless Darlana Medium Lantern by E.F. Chapman in Aged Iron hangs above the luxurious soaking tub.
